On August 30th 2017, the Central Department of Propaganda and Training, Ministry of Information and Communication and Vietnam Publishing Association together organized the conference on publishing affairs of the first six months in 2017.

The conference was presided by Mr. Hoang Vinh Bao – Vice Minister of Information and Communication Ministry, President of Publishing Association, and co-chaired by Mr. Pham Van Linh – Deputy Director of the Central Department of Propaganda and Training. Representatives of many publishers also joined the conference.

According to the announcement at the conference, in the first six months of 2017, publishers published appropriate 40 thousand book titles (increased by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2016) and submitted nearly 215 million copyright (increased by 10% compared to the same period in 2016). In another hand, in the first six months, there were 96 violated publications (decreased by 18% compared to 2016).

Mr. Hoang Vinh Bao – Vice Minister of Information and Communication Ministry said that the issue of licensing and handling violations have been decreased because of the close cooperation between the Publications Department and publishers.

To conclude, Mr. Pham Van Linh – Deputy Director of the Central Department of Propaganda and Training, Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council suggested some key tasks in Publishing industry in the coming time such as: focusing on political task, improving the quality of publications, managing closely the linking process; paying more attention to books, especially the books on sea sovereignty protection and marine economic development; continuing to implement the Directive No.42 of Secretariat of 9th Congress on improving the comprehensive quality of publishing activity.
